Four percentage questions in one tool
Switch between finding a percentage of a number, what percent one number is of another, the whole given a part and its percentage, or the percentage difference between two numbers — each mode shows the formula and the working, not just the answer.
How to use
- Pick the question that matches what you're trying to work out
- Enter the two numbers it asks for
- Read the answer, the worked steps and the extra context rows below it
Common questions
How is this different from the % Increase/Decrease calculator?
This tool answers four separate "what is X% of Y" style questions (including percentage difference). For the specific case of how much a value grew or shrank between two points, use the % Increase/Decrease calculator — the base it measures against is different.
What does "percentage difference" mean in the fourth mode?
It measures the gap between two numbers against their average, not against either number specifically. That's different from percentage change, which always uses the first (starting) number as the base — so the two calculators can give different-looking answers for the same pair of numbers.
