Compare two PDFs at text level
Upload an original and a revised PDF. The tool extracts text from each, runs a line-by-line diff (longest common subsequence) and shows the result side-by-side: added lines green, removed lines red.
How to use
- Upload PDF A (original) and PDF B (compared against)
- Press Compare
- Review the side-by-side diff — counts appear in the info bar
Common questions
Will it catch a formatting change that doesn't change the words?
No — since the comparison works on extracted text, not rendered pixels, changes that are purely visual (font, spacing, colour) with identical wording won't show up as a difference.
Does it work on scanned PDFs with no real text layer?
Not well — if a PDF is a scanned image with no underlying selectable text, there's no text to extract and compare; the comparison would show it as empty or entirely different regardless of what the scan actually shows.
Text-only comparison. Visual changes (image edits, formatting differences with identical text) are not detected.
