Why didn't my PDF get much smaller?

Which preset should I use?
Recommended is a sensible default for most documents. Use Extreme when file size matters more than image sharpness, like email attachments, and Near-Lossless when the PDF contains photos or detailed graphics you don't want visibly softened.
