How this works
This computes Indian income tax slab-by-slab for both the new and old regimes, including the Section 87A rebate (zero tax up to the exemption threshold) and 4% health-and-education cess, and shows exactly how much of your income falls in each slab rather than just the final number.
Common questions
Which regime should I pick — old or new?
It depends on how many deductions you claim — the old regime's lower base tax only wins out if your deductions (80C, HRA, home loan interest, etc.) are large enough to offset its higher standard deduction gap. Try both regimes here with your real numbers to see which comes out lower.
What's the Section 87A rebate?
It's a provision that brings your tax to zero if your taxable income is under a threshold (currently ₹7 lakh under the new regime), even though the slab calculation alone would show some tax due — it's applied as a separate rebate, not a slab rate.
