How this works

Rotating by exactly 90, 180 or 270 degrees is pixel-perfect — no quality loss, no extra padding. Any other angle (like 15° to straighten a tilted photo) adds a small margin around the edges, since a rotated rectangle no longer fits its original bounding box exactly.

Common questions

Why does a 15° rotation add empty space around my photo?

A tilted rectangle needs a bigger bounding box to contain it fully — the canvas grows to fit the rotated image's corners, and the new corners are filled with white (for JPEG) or left transparent (for PNG).

Is 90° rotation lossless?

Yes — at exact 90/180/270° angles, every pixel just moves to a new position; nothing is recalculated or blended, so there's zero quality loss.
