A full statistical summary from one list
Enter a list of numbers and get mean, median, mode, range, variance, standard deviation (sample or population), quartiles, interquartile range and geometric mean in one pass — up to 2,000 values at a time.
How to use
- Enter your numbers separated by commas, spaces or line breaks
- Press Calculate for the full summary
- Switch between sample and population basis to see variance and SD divided by n − 1 or n
Common questions
Does it divide by n or n − 1 for variance and standard deviation?
You choose — the default is "sample" (n − 1, Bessel's correction), the right setting when your numbers are a sample drawn from a larger population. Switch to "population" to divide by n instead when your list really is the entire population.
How are the quartiles (Q1 and Q3) calculated?
Using Tukey's hinges: the median splits the sorted list in half, then Q1 and Q3 are the medians of those two halves (with the middle value itself excluded from both halves when the count is odd). Some textbooks interpolate instead and can land on slightly different figures for the same data.
What's the maximum number of values I can enter?
2,000 numbers per calculation. The working panel summarises long lists rather than printing every value, but every value you entered is still used in the actual computation.
