Common questions
Will my document's exact formatting and images carry over?
Mostly text and basic formatting — mammoth.js, which reads the .docx, focuses on structural content like headings and paragraphs rather than pixel-perfect layout. Complex formatting or precise image placement may look different from the original.
Does this work with the older .doc format, or only .docx?
Only .docx, the modern XML-based format — the older binary .doc format isn't supported by the underlying parser, so save as .docx first if your file is in the old format.
For exact-layout PDFs (e.g., for printing), Word's built-in "Save as PDF" is more accurate. Use this tool when you need a quick browser-based conversion.
